Recent news has it that new Real Madrid signing Karim Benzema chose Real Madrid over Manchester United, Inter Milan and Barcelona. One must ask, why? What did Real Madrid win? Nothing, compared to what the three above clubs won. Manchester United won the Premier League, Inter Milan, the Scudetto and last, but definetly not the least, Barcelona who won the Spanish La Liga and the Champions league. Well aparently, he has dreamed of playing for Real Madrid since he 15,but then again, who hasn't? Ronaldo said the same thing, that doesn't mean they should be trusted.
Money, probably was the motivator. Don't get me wrong, it's
not the only motivator, but it's sure as hell a big one. Real Madrid, after throwing money out for Kaka, Ronaldo and Albiol(I thought he deserved a mention eventhough what they payed for him was nothing compared to the former two), by far have the most amount of money to throw weekly to their players. In today's world, what counts most is money. Loyalty comes second now. Players want their flashy cars, lavish lifestyle, fancy parties and big houses. The more they earn the more they can buy. Uk's soon-to-be increase in income tax was probably a turn off for Benzema. He's sitting there thinking "Nah, I'll play for Madrid instead of giving the British government 50% of my money"
The other only probable motivator, would have been that Real Madrid are a global brand. They are known everywhere, even if they don't win anything, they have a name that is unbeatable. And who wouldn't want to line up with a team that has stars like Kaka, Ronaldo, Ramos, Casilas and many more. Yes, it isn't proven that they will play well together, but Benzema won't care. Of course, Manchester United and Barcelona have good teams. But they don't have a fan base as big as Madrid's, nor do they have as many stars. And if I was given the choice, to spend one day with Only Kaka, Ronaldo, Ramos and Casilas or both the Manchester United team and Barcelona's team, I'd pick the first option. Many would agree with me, I'm sure.
